It all began the night of Christmas Eve 2017.  I was in the Oakland airport waiting for my commuter flight back home to Burbank. Trying to pass the time, I started  scrolling on some dating apps…Shortly after logging on, I got a message from Andrew. Instantly attracted to his profile picture, I messaged him back. 

“Hey”….were the first words we ever spoke to each other. 

We messaged each other back and forth on the app for nearly an hour. As I was getting ready to takeoff, I told him, “here’s my number…text me…I'm about to take off and don’t have WiFi, but I can text..”,  so he did. We messaged each other all night, and well into the Christmas morning. After a few hours of texting, I told him I was going to sleep, but I would text him later in the evening. 

Holding true to my word, I texted him later that Christmas evening. I told him I was with family, and about to get in the car to head home. He told me he was also with family, and as it turns out, we were in the same city, only 10 minutes from each other. I told him I’d be happy to stop by and say hi, so we could actually meet face to face. By this time I had pulled to the side of road. Giddy and excited, he sent me the address, and I made the sharpest U-turn ever possible. 

When I drove up, he met me outside. I put my window down, and he looked at me and chuckled. Since it was still Christmas, I was wearing my Frosty The Snowman pajama pants, white North Face jacket, and red Converse. I told him if he was going to meet me, he was going to meet the real, authentic me. No makeup, hair pulled back, and wearing Christmas pj’s…So I did just that…I got out of the car, gave him a hug, and the rest is history.
